Twinkle, twinkle little star?

Kids are very observant.  After six months of living here in Dammam, I never noticed that there are no stars in the sky.

I remember back home the night sky will always be filled with a gazillion (or zazillion ba yung mas marami, dahil starts with the letter “z”?!!!) pretty little blinking lights.  The only time they will disappear is when there is a storm and thick rain clouds block your view of the vast universe out there.

Here in Saudi Arabia rain clouds are very seldom.  Since I arrived here last March I have experienced more sand storms than the usual tropical storms that I am used too.  In short, there is no reason not to see the beautiful twinkling stars at night.

Hmmm.  This sound like a very trivial matter but actually it is not.  How do we teach Marga to sing twinkle, twinkle little star when she doesn’t even know what a star looks like?!

I wonder if there is any scientific explanation for this very weird phenomenon.  The only explanation I can think of is… “bawal din dito sa Saudi ang mga stars!”
